We're pretty sure it's not swine flu, but Mason's got a doozy of a cold. His oxygen need, unfortunately has gone up and up and up over the last week or so, reaching a threshold yesterday. So, we took him to see his pediatrician last night. After the pediatrician consulted with the lung doctor, we were told we should go back to our home away from home. Yes, that's right, we're back in the hospital.
We checked in at about 8:30 last night and had quite the eventful evening between heated humidifiers (heats up the oxygen so that it's more moist for Mason's poor REALLY dry nose) not working, oxygen not getting through the machine, a 2 AM blood draw, and people coming in through the night to give lasix (heavy dose diuretics) and bump up his steroids among other things.
Thankfully Mason's sleeping pretty well now, but is still on way too much oxygen for his little body, so we're glad we're here. As always, I'll keep y'all posted with what's happening as the days go on - we don't know, yet, how long we'll be here.
